The Anglican Centre in Rome is pleased to host a seminar on the theme – ‘God wills fellowship’ Is ecumenism part of the problem? – next Thursday, 8 October 2026, at 6.00pm Central European Time.

Our guest speaker will be the Revd Canon James Hawkey (Canon Theologian of Westminster Abbey) with a response given by Professor Teresa Francesca Rossi (Professor of Ecumenism at Pontifical University St Thomas Aquinas, Rome).

For many decades, ecumenists have rooted their work in theologies of fellowship or communion. This seminar will explore whether our current practices and ecumenical habits have ironically sometimes contributed towards preserving the status quo, rather than provoking a deeper growth in communion between the churches. It will seek to highlight some of the strong potential for further encounter and richer fellowship in the decades to come.
